Morning Update! Eliminating Pledge Levels and Lower Prices!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 06, 2018 at 10:00:42 AM

Hail Journeyman,

This will be a quick update on the final ten days of the campaign.  First of all, we are still 160% FUNDED! so thanks to everyone that has hung in there.  This has been "a very interesting" campaign and I am curious to see where we end up.

I have always traveled in close knit groups, if not alone, and have never, never run with the crowd.  This Kickstarter has been no different.  Those of you who have hung around from the beginning are what we call in our neighborhood "ride or die!"  And I am very grateful and honored to have you on this ride. I love Journey To The Overland and always will.  If I never sell another copy of the game I would still play it, come up with more cool stuff for up and continue to pimp out my copy of it (heck I caught sight of a radical Character Journal being offered on Kickstarter now that would be nearly perfect for JTO but I've done my obligatory cross promo for this campaign!).  Speaking of cross promos the folks at Mystic Realms said we "blessed" them.  Cool huh.

Anyway back to this update.  I will be eliminating ALL the printed pledge levels for the Journey To The Overland Townscape.  I never wanted the obligation of having to get them printed to begin with but had added that option as a service to my Backers from the original campaign who indicated in a survey that 70% of them did not have 3D printers.  But since none of the pledges have been taken I see no reason to leave that up as all the files can easily be printed on Shapeways as I indicated.

This will also facilitate the second part of this update (or is it the third) and that is lowering the prices on all the STL files.  Essentially the STL files were subsidizing the costs of offering the printed buildings.  With that option gone I will be lowering all the STL pledge levels so that any individual Set will now be $25.00.  Everything will be $50.00 except the Unreleased Expansions which will still only be free to NextGen Backers.  Hopefully this will clean up a lot of the confusion and angst as I know I a lot of people don't like to back a project if they feel they can't afford to get everything (I think they call themselves "completionist").

And the last thing I will be doing is a major clean up of the home page.  I will be removing Stretch Goals we are not likely to meet  (i.e. $16,000 and up) .  Don't worry though all the Stretch Goals that get removed will end up in the Backerkit if you want to add them to your pledges post campaign.

And that should essentially be it.  Hopefully with all those changes we will cruise to the finish line and see where we end up.  I am really excited to start giving you guys post-campaign updates and getting your feedback on the fulfillment.

Oh yeah and I should get a prototype of the GM Screen in sometime today.  The first one that came in was WAY too small so I had to redesign it and reorder it but it is expected to arrive today and I will try to put up a video tomorrow showing if off if I like it.

Thanks again everyone and God Bless!

How About Some Trees to Go with Those Buildings!
about 6 years ago – Thu, Apr 05, 2018 at 09:20:11 AM

Hail Journeyman,

One of the things that I always try to do when I do a Kickstarter is partner with another small content creator for a mutually beneficial cross promotion if I think it would benefit my Backers.

I turn down a lot of stuff but toward the end of all my Kickstarters I try to find a project that I think could use the attention and that could also help us.  Now a lot of Kickstarter "experts" will tell you a hundred reasons why you should never do this but since the majority of them usually raise $100,000 or more I can see why they wouldn't want to associate with lowly projects like ours.  As for me I don't care.  If I can help someone and maybe get some help in return then I will do it every time.

Which brings me to the headline of this update.  A project called Mystic Realms has about three days left for a Kickstarter offering 3D STL files for "trees", "rocks" and "grass tiles".  Now the grass tiles being 4" x 4" would be too big for any practical use on the Journey To The Overland map but the trees and rocks can be printed in 20mm making them idea little bits of scenery for the forest of Journey To The Overland (though you would want to scatter them for movement purposes).

Spooky Trees!

Best of all the tree and rock sets start at just $10.00!  Yes $10.00 for ten different trees or rocks.

Check them out for yourself and pick up a set!

ANNOUNCING THE...

The Journey To The Overland Townscape
The Journey To The Overland Townscape

Of all the supplements and expansions and ADD ONS that I have imagined for Journey To The Overland the ONE thing remaining that I had always envisioned from the beginning is The Journey To The Overland Townscape!  A 3D representation of every town, castle and strategic location in the Overland!

With this expansion your experience and immersion in the Journey To The Overland Solo Tabletop Roleplaying game will be complete!

Using these STL files you can now bring your game map to life with these 1" x 1" scale 3D towns and castles of every significant location on the map! All of the STL files have been designed and tested to print economically and conveniently on Shapeways so that even those of you without a 3D printer can order them and have them printed the day they arrive!

Alternatively we are also offering a "printed" version of the buildings as a separate pledge where I will order and print the STL files and ship them to you with your other rewards or directly through Shapeways!

Futuretown

Even if you don't use them for your Journey To The Overland roleplaying sessions they can easily stand in for the stickers or cardboard tokens used to represent cities or towns in board games like Gloomhaven and Mage Knight

TOWNS

  • MILESTILL
  • ZAFTON
